1. How much do you charge per hour, what are your rates? We don’t charge by the hour, we charge by the job. Our quotes are based on the average time it takes a qualified technician/licensed plumber to do the labor (also includes parts). We use a standard price guide and quote the price before the work begins. Before any work is done, we agree on a price the customer will pay regardless of how long it takes to do the work, even if it takes longer than anticipated.
  2. Do you do residential work? Yes, we specialize in residential work and cover all aspects of your home’s comfort systems. We do:
    • remodels, new installations, additions
    • troubleshooting
    • residential plumbing
    • heating and air conditioning
We do not do new construction – only service, repair and equipment replacement in existing buildings.
  3. Do you do commercial and industrial work? We do light commercial, and light industrial.
  4. Do you have a minimum trip charge? Trip charges cover the cost of the licensed plumber or technician arriving in a fully stocked truck and performing a quick diagnosis of the problem. Sometimes more than a short diagnosis is required depending on the problem, and extended diagnosis charges might be applicable, but this is rarely the case. If we don’t have the part we need, or something has to be special ordered to do your repair, we’ll return with no additional trip charges. Other companies charge by the hour and they start the clock when they get in the truck to come to your location, and some charge for the ride home too. Quotes on new installations for heating & A/C equipment, sewer, geothermal heating/cooling, and solar thermal hot water systems are free.
  5. Do you quote prices over the phone? Phone quotes are often inaccurate and almost always change when the technician evaluates the job in person. There are many components that go into your homes mechanicals, and its hard to guess what might be going on without seeing the whole picture. Give us a call and we’ll come out to assess your situation and give you an accurate quote.
  6. Do you work near my home? We have been serving the Western Suburbs of Chicago for 39 years.
  7. Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Angie’s List, or other 3rd party rating company? Yes. We have been a member of the BBB for many years, and have been nominated for their Annual Torch Award for business excellence several years in a row. We are also rated on Angie’s List. As of March 2014, we have an A+ rating with the BBB and A & B ratings with Angie’s List.
  8. Do you take credit cards? Yes, we do. We accept American Express, MasterCard, Discover, and Visa. Checks and cash are also welcome!
  9. Can you do work at my rented home? The owner of the property must authorize any repairs or upgrades. Unless your lease agreement specifically states that you are allowed to authorize work of this type, we won’t be able to take care of your issues without authorization.
  10. Do you have insurance? Yes. We are licensed, bonded, and insured to protect you, the home and business owner, as required by the state of Illinois. We send only licensed plumbers and certified HVAC technicians to address your service call. Each plumber is individually licensed and Bair Services carries a contractor’s license, which is required by the state. For your peace of mind, we drug test and background check all employees. We do not hire subcontractors to work in your home.
