Ready for a Smart Home

Smart Home Technology

Have you heard of smart homes? Do you desire to live in one? These days we are always connected to technology. Many of us are frequently online at home, and when we are away via our smartphones. We continually monitor our finances and social media accounts, and are always looking for ways to simplify our lives through automation. Smart home automation enables control of almost every aspect of your home via internet connection or smart phone. The cost of the technology that provides this automation has dropped making smart home technology attainable for the average homeowner.

Imagine coming home and without doing anything, having your lights come on automatically, the home adjusting personalized comfort settings from away mode to your user specific setting, and even having the music turn on to your favorite station or playlist. This portrayal just scratches the surface of what these smart systems are capable of.

Smart homes help you save too. Smart systems take programmable thermostats to a new level; they have the ability to learn and remember comfort settings, and can take up to 20% off your utility bill. Insurance companies are beginning to offer discounts for integrating your security system, smoke, and water detection alarms to your smart home.

Smart homes can provide additional peace of mind. Having the ability to check in on your home while you are away is something that most of are not used to yet. Now with smart home technology we can turn off lights or other electronics that were left on, lock doors, arm security alarms, check to see who is at the door, close the blinds, and more.

Slowly build your system. Start with a good control module that is compatible with all of the technologies you hope to integrate. Begin by integrating the items that will help lower bills and provide basic conveniences. As you become more familiar with your system and the savings add up move forward with those wow features.
